Languages courses are offered from Monday through Friday only. We ask that students commit to a minimum of one week of language instruction, but may continue their enrollment for as many weeks as they wish. We also offer weekend packages at an additional cost. Rates may vary depending on the length of your stay, so please contact us for more information. Group discounts are available.
One Week Package (Monday-Friday)
- Four hours daily of language instruction in Spanish, K’iche’ or Mam
- Home stay with a local family
- All meals included (vegetarian available upon request)
- Participation in social and cultural programs, selecting from the following: presentations on a variety of ecological and political themes (such as the impacts of mining and water privatization in Guatemala); cooking classes to learn to prepare typical foods, including cheese-making and chocolates; exploration of the mountains surrounding Cantel; a Mayan spiritual ceremony; environmental education; work demonstrations by local artisans; demonstration of natural medicine with plants local to Pachaj; meeting with local youth; overnight camping trip to Quiaq Peak to admire nature, the stars, the moon, and a beautiful view of the Santa María and Santiaguito volcanoes.

A typical day for a Ixim Ulew language student:
